Established in 2003 as a greenfield investment, Kahraba builds, owns and operates power generation stations, sub-stations and distribution networks, providing energy solutions to a diverse mix of industrial and commercial clients in Egypt. Kahraba has authorized capital of EGP 100 million and paid-in capital of EGP 81 million, employing a staff of 59.
Kahraba primarily focuses on three sectors—independent power plants (IPP), central power plants (CPP) and electromechanical projects. Kahraba has undertaken a number of large-scale projects, including the new American University in Cairo campus in New Cairo and the gas-powered Borg Al Arab station. The 22-megawatt station was established using a build-own-operate arrangement and currently serves 20 factories, with plans to expand power generation to an additional six factories in Borg Al Arab thanks to contracts signed in 2012.
